Butterfly Snippets

Good morning to you all on this cold and frosty Sunday. I know it's a great excuse to stay inside and do a bit of crafting but honestly I would love spring to come out of hiding, wouldn't you?

But less of the complaining and onto my card. Using a snippet of white card I cut a Penny Black Glamorous die and I left the die in place while I coloured it with some Flexmarkers that were to hand - the stems are very fragile and the flower head easily breaks off, which I found out with my first attempt. Then I stamped a Clearly Besotted sentiment onto a snippet of cream card and stuck it all together before finally adding my butterfly. A very quick and CAS card and another NBUS item (PB die) used.

Edited for my bad grammar and typing: what I actually meant to say was that after I'd die cut the flower I took the die off and instead of pushing the flower out from the card negative I left it in place whilst I coloured it to keep it a bit more secure. Thinking about it now I could have tried sticking it onto a post-it pad or low tack tape to keep it secure at the fragile point where the stem and petals meet.

I made this for

Pixie's Snippets Playground challenge 'use your snippets'

Butterfly challenge 'spin the wheel with the letter L' I managed lavender, lemon, layers, letters

Now I'm off to find Mojo and maybe get my inspiration and creative jusices flowing for a few more challenges. Take care and keep warm (or cold) depending on whereabouts in Blogland you are and thanks for popping by today.

New Home

Hey the sun is shining here today so does that mean spring is finally coming out of hiding? This has been the longest winter for me starting last September when Hubby was rushed into hospital for emergency surgery and with everything else that's happened since I don't seem to have got anything organised! I was quite optimistic when I posted my last card that I was getting on top of things and even got some stamping and colouring done.... but then those dreaded germs jumped out and caught me unawares.  Fingers and toes and everything else crossed I think I've finally shaken them off and can start again!

Anyway enough of my waffling on - here's a card I made using snippets of card and a Poppystamps die 'Country House' and 'Country House roof and background'. I cut the background from snippets of coloured card and inlaid them into a piece of white card, then added the other pieces on top before layering onto green card and the card blank. I used chalks to give a bit of colour to the sky and ground but (as usual) it doesn't show up on the photo. After searching through all my stamps I've only just realised that I've got no new home sentiments so that'll have to be added when I've been on a shopping trip!

I've made this for the following challenges

Pixie's Snippets Playground challenge 'use your snippets'

Time Out challenge 'bold'

Poppy challenge 'clean and simple'

Edited: after a nudge from Darnell I'm also entering this in

Happy Little Stampers CAS challenge 'home'

Thanks for popping by today and I'll be around to catch up with you all over the next few days.

Uniko Birthday

Well after thinking we may have got away with just a few snow flurries that didn't settle we woke up to a thick blanket of snow this morning. I've now got Hubby trying to clear off and get the car started so we can go and check on my Dad's house and turn his heating up a bit higher.

If you hadn't already heard, Uniko are celebrating and are having a 6th Birthday Linky Party over on their blog. I've made a card using Uniko stamps from 'Big and Bold Wish' and 'Simply Said Birthday' along with Uniko 'Scattered Polka Dots' stencil.

I followed the sketch over at CAS Colours and sketches

and I'm also joining the challenge at Addicted to Stamps and More

I hope you're all keeping fit and well, and for those of you in the cold and snow I hope you're managing to snug and warm as well. Thanks for popping by today.

Snippets and B's

Hello to you all on this very cold but sunny day. I'm planning on having a restful weekend with the heating switched up and a bit of crafting to amuse myself.

I've made a card using snippets of ribbon, card and paper and the last three of my larger flowers. I started with the flowers and the snippet of ribbon - it was a case of use them or bin them - then I found the piece of green spotty paper and I'd already cut my new TH background die from a snippet of card when I first got it to see what it looked like, and after a tiny bit of cutting to size and sticking in place I'd got the start of the card. Next up was trying different nesting dies (they'd already been cut from snippets and kept in a box for when they were needed) and I settled on a TH stitched oval and also a Cheery Lyn butterfly with a couple of gems added. So after stamping the Clearly besotted sentiment I stuck the last two bits in place to finish the card. I know it was a very back to front way of doing things but it's just the way things happen sometimes!

I'm heading over to the following challenges with this

Pixie's Snippets Playground challenge 'use your snippets'

Allsorts challenge 'I spy something beginning with B'  Blooms, Bow, Butterfly

Let's Craft and Create challenge 'anything goes + option mother's day/mother'

Thanks for popping by today and I hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Something Old, Something New

Hi everyone, welcome to another weekend and I can't believe we're halfway through a second month already!

The first ever Uniko stamp I had was the fabulous Pure Florals: Gerbera set (something old) that I won over in Pixie's Snippets Playground - it became the start of a collection that has it's own box in the crafty cupboard - and I recently saw the matching die set (something new) on offer so I decided to treat myself. I stamped and die-cut the solid flowers and then picked a sentiment from the Uniko 'simply said birthday' set which I stamped straight onto a piece of hammered effect card using the Misti. When I first started card making I would computer generate most of my sentiments but now I prefer hand stamped as I've built up such a good collection to pick from. After matting on pink card and sticking to the card base all I had to do was add a few sequins to finish it off.

I shall head over to the following challenges with this

Uniko challenge 'something old, something new + option love'

Stamping Sensations challenge 'anything with flowers'

As You Like It challenge 'favourite way to add a sentiment and why'

Edited to add another challenge ~

Uniko 6th Birthday Linky Party where you have to make a birthday card to join in the fun

Thanks for popping by and for taking the time to leave me a few words. I hope you all have a super weekend whatever your plans are.

Twofer Hearts

Morning to you all, hope things are well with you today. Darnell's second Twofer challenge has started and the theme this month is hearts. Now as you have to make two cards of different designs using the same stamp or die I've also set myself the challenge of using NBUS, old stash or (as in this case) a not so loved stamp. I bought this stamp last year and it's only been used once as I wasn't too keen on the card I made and as I'm still having a clear out I thought I'd give it another go before deciding it's fate. The stamp I've used is 'Penny Black Valentine Dance' and the butterflies have lots of little hearts on them.

so I'm heading over to the Twofer challenge with these

Here's my 'Onefer' which also uses the sentiment that comes in the set. I used a Sakura glitter pen on the hearts and Dovecraft punch for the border.

here's a close up but it still doesn't show the glitter!

This one's heading over to the following challenges

Allsorts challenge 'love is in the air' (my second entry)

AAA Cards challenge 'all you need is love'

So now for my 'Twofer' - again I wasn't too impressed with my first card and thought about maybe embossing the butterflies to give them a bit more ooomph as I'd originally planned on making an anniversary card, but that still didn't fill me with any enthusiasm.

At this stage I had come to the conclusion that I wasn't going to be able to get this stamp to work for me so next step was to change course completely and I started by stamping on a snippet of card, colouring with Promarkers and then cutting out the wings to see what they looked like. Mmmm..... out came the Sakura pen again to give the hearts a bit of glitter and I thought I may as well carry on and see where this would lead me. Next I stamped onto some more card and coloured again using Promarkers and the glitter pen and then attached the wings, so far not looking too bad but still lacking something and then I had that 'eureka' moment and realised that butterflies need flowers - so another PB stamp 'Jubilance' came to the rescue and I added a few flowers with Stickles centres along the bottom. Finally I stamped a PB birthday sentiment and then matted it onto some coloured card and a deckled edge card base. I much prefer my 'Twofer' so I've decided to hang on to this stamp for a while longer to see if I can find a bit of inspiration and give it a bit more love.

again, here's another close up but it still doesn't show the glitter and Stickles!

and this one's heading over to the following challenges

Penny Black and More challenge 'love, hearts and / or flowers'

Penny Black Saturday challenge 'anything goes + option use some scraps'

Country View challenge 'anything but cute'

Thanks for taking the time to pop by on this cold wet and miserable day (well that's what it's like here) and for taking the time to leave me a comment.

Lovebird Snippets

Hi everyone, Sorry I've been such a bad blogger this past fortnight, I really don't know where the days are going to.... we're well into February and I've only made one card and not even managed to get time to hop around Blogland to visit you all. Hopefully the clocks will slow down a bit next week and I'll be able to catch up with everyone.

Anyway here's my card using some of my very old stash and snippets of card, paper and ribbon. I had 3 strips of the paper so matted the widest onto a strip of white card and then stuck it to the base card with the thinner strips tucked underneath. The image is a Sylvia Zet Hobby House topper cut with a Tim Holtz oval die matted onto the next size up oval and from a snippet of ribbon I made a bow and wrapped the leftover bit around the larger oval and under the image. Then to finish I added some flowers. So my new resolution is to use up all my old toppers and flowers as well as all the tiny lengths of ribbon I have lying around.

I'm entering this in the following challenges

Pixie's Snippets Playground challenge 'use your snippets'

Allsorts challenge 'love is in the air'

Die Cut Divas challenge 'love is in the air'

Thanks for popping by today and I hope you all have a super weekend

Giveaway winners

Hi everyone, hope you're all feeling well and having a great weekend. As promised I'm back with the names of my folowers who have said they'll give a loving home to my 'not so loved by me' craft goodies. I wrote your names on pieces of paper and got hubby to pick one for each giveaway. I was going to take a photo of each piece of paper but the camera batteries have died on me so you'll just have to trust me this time.

So here we have it

Woodware stamps 'Christmas Hoot' and 'Huge Snow'

Penny Black stamp 'Jubilant'

Tattered Lace embossing folder, Snowflake die and LOTV toppers

Clearly Besotted stamp set 'simply quilled', Spellbinders Impressabilities 'flowers' and Memory Box stencil 'texture chicken wire'

Sugar Nellie 'snow family' and Poppystamps die 'frosty snowflake buttons'

Memory Box 'Lindemann Snowflake' die and a Hero Arts stamp

If you could send me your name and address to (at) then I'll get them out in the post to you next week.

I know it was only a few bits I cleared out but it actually feels so good to have done this as it makes a bit more space for my new goodies!

Uniko Butterflies

I can't believe a whole month has already passed us by this year. Last year I bought several new stamps and due to everything that happened over the past few months I've not got round to playing with them yet, so I've put them all in a single box on the top of the cupboard and I'm going to work my way through them before they get put in the craft cupboard and forgotten about.

Here's the first which is from Uniko called 'English Country Garden Butterflies' and which I stamped in two layers - first the solid butterfly with a lilac Memento ink and then the outline detail stamp with white embossing powder. I used my old Xcut nesting heart dies to cut the card and fixed it all with sticky pads and finally added a silver peel-off sentiment. As it's such a pale colour with so much white it was really hard to photograph and this was the best I could get.

I'm entering this in the following challenges

Uniko challenge 'something old, something new + optional twist love'

Inkspirational challenge 'word prompt attachment'

Thanks for popping by today and I hope you're all ready for the weekend and fingers crossed the weather plays nice for us.

Finally.... Birthday Card Made

I've finally got my granddaughter's birthday card made and hopefully it'll get there in time this year. Last year it took the scenic route from England to Australia via Spain courtesy of the Royal Mail (a 5 week journey instead of 5 days!)

The image is Mo Manning 'Lacie' coloured with Promarkers and chalks for the grass and sky. For some reason the chalks never show up in the photos but they are there IRL, and after taking the photos I realised that I'd forgotten the Sakura glaze on the sunspec lenses and Stickles on the ice cream so they've now been added. Papers are from Prima 'doodle deux' collection, the number 2 is a Die-namics die and the image and sentiment have been cut with Xcut nesting dies. I guess this has to be my favourite and most used die set as it's perfect for cutting and matting images. A bit of ribbon and a wooden butterfly from my stash and I was finally finished.

I shall head over to the following challenges with this

Noor Design UK challenge ' anything goes'
As You Like It challenge 'favourite die and why'
Paper Creator's Crafts challenge 'anything goes'

And another 'finally' - my last pre-loved candy (at least for the time being!) A Memory Box 'Lindemann Snowflake' die and a Hero Arts stamp. I'm not sure of the stamp name as it was originally wood-mounted but I de-wooded and put it onto cling foam. Please feel free to look back at the last three posts for my other pre-loved giveaways and if there's any you would like then just leave a message saying which and I'll put your name in the hat.

(The winner is Sandma's Handmade cards - claimed)

I'm now off for a walk to the Post Office with Asher's birthday card while it's dry and the sun is shining. Thanks for popping by today,
